Major Employers Prepare for Job Shadow Day 2007
Event Kicks Off on February 2nd; Groundhog Day
Washington, DC—On Friday, February 2nd, tens of thousands of employers will host student Job Shadow s as part of Job Shadow Day 2007, a nationwide effort to give young people an up-close look at the world of work by letting them shadow various “career mentors” in their places of work.

ING:
Financial services giant ING’s Job Shadow program is not just on February 2nd. The company has allowed its locations to choose any date during the month of February. The ING offices doing a shadow day include Atlanta, GA; Des Moines, IA; Hartford, CT; Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY and Scottsdale, AZ.

Cisco Systems:
To kick off a month long series of events in support of the national initiative, Cisco will be hosting thousands of students from the Cisco Networking Academy Program at events in Austin, TX, Chicago, Ill., Herndon, Va., Research Triangle Park, N.C., New York City, and San Jose, Calif. to learn first-hand about working in the Networking and IT industry. Cisco employees will spend the day volunteering for Junior Achievement and interacting with the students, providing them a real world view of the IT world through round table discussions, facility tours and technology demonstrations. The program helps young people understand that the efforts they invest in the classroom will directly impact their future employability and potential for upward mobility within the global economy
