Kick off 2009 with Job Shadow!
Job Shadow 2009 will kick off on February 2, 2009. This will be the national launch to a yearlong initiative that gives students across America the chance to “shadow” a workplace mentor as he or she goes through a day on the job. This opportunity provides young people nationwide with an up-close look at how skills learned in school are put to use in the workplace. Thousands of students and businesses will participate in Job Shadow 2009.
Job Shadow 2009 is coordinated by the Job Shadow Coalition, which consists of America’s Promise, Junior Achievement (JA), the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Labor. Sponsors include AT&T; Best Buy Children’s Foundation; Cisco; the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

AT&T / JA Worldwide Job Shadow Initiative Seeks to Strengthen Student Success
As part of the AT&T Aspire program, AT&T and Junior Achievement are implementing a multimillion dollar, multiyear job shadow initiative that will match 100,000 students with more than 50,000 AT&T employees to help strengthen student success and workforce readiness. This landmark commitment is designed to give students the unique opportunity of an up-close look at the world of work through a corporate site visit.
Students will be paired with AT&T employee volunteers who will take students through a planned curriculum that will include interviewing activities and a tour of AT&T’s job search website.
