On January 29, the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences hosted the Chicago Public Schools’ kickoff for Job Shadow 2008. The school was honored to have Dr. Carla Pugh of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University Medical School as a special guest for the event. Dr. Pugh addressed the students, some of whom had the opportunity to Job Shadow her at her lab.
Dr. Pugh shared her experiences with students; from how she grew up in California as the daughter of a single mother to how she went on to receive degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, Howard University and Stanford University. During the month of February, Dr. Pugh is being honored by the National Library of Medicine as one of the leading Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons in the country.
