Job Shadow Day E-Xtra!
January 25, 2007
Job Shadow on the Radio
On January 25th, ING Foundation President Rhonda Mims will be taking part in a series of radio interviews to discuss Job Shadow Day 2007. Among the things Rhonda will discuss are the findings from a new JA Worldwide(TM) poll that shows that one-in-four teens seek career guidance from “people in the field,” second only to “teachers/counselors.” The findings reinforce the importance of Job Shadow activities. CNN Radio is scheduled to be one of the outlets carrying the media tour.
Job Shadow Across the Country!
Momentum for Job Shadow 2007 continues to build. Here are just a few examples of events taking place around the country in the coming weeks.

- Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan is partnering with several metro Detroit based companies to have their employees serve as one-day mentors to high school students beginning on February 2, 2007, National Groundhog Job Shadow Day. The purpose of the area-wide event is to encourage young people to see the connection between what they are learning in school and what skills are needed in the workplace.
- Lawrence, MA
- ValleyWorks Career Center sponsors National Job Shadow Day. The goal is to provide more than 600 Merrimack Valley high school juniors with Job Shadow experiences.

Students will spend a half-day shadowing scientists, firefighters, graphic designers, doctors, architects, teachers, government employees and a myriad of other professions in order to experience the workplace firsthand.
