Job Shadow Day 2006 a Great Success!
Once again, February 2, 2006, Job Shadow Day, marked the successful kick-off of Job Shadow across the country for the coming year! Thanks to the support of countless businesses, schools, agencies and organizations at the national, state and local levels, an estimated one million young people will receive an up-close look at the world of work through Job Shadow ing!
Some highlights of this year’s effort include:
Capitol Hill Job Shadow :
This year, nearly two dozen members of Congress and their staffs saw student Job Shadow s as part of Job Shadow Day 2006. Junior Achievement students from their home states and districts traveled to Washington, DC for this unique opportunity. Participating offices included

Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Rep.Ted Poe (R-TX), Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Sen. Mike Dewine (R-OH), Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX), Sen. In addition, officials at several Federal Agencies also participated. Agencies included the U.S. Department of Treasury, the U.S. Department of Education, the Bureau of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Small Business Administration. National Awareness:
Job Shadow Day was also big news in the Big Apple. Through the work of Junior Achievement of New York and the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), students Job Shadow ed at the offices of People Magazine, LIFE and CosmoGirl!, among many others. In Atlanta, Junior Achievement students Job Shadow ed on the set of CNN. In Washington, DC, the State Department’s daily briefing on C-SPAN included mentions of Job Shadow activities taking place at State on February 2nd.
100 Best Communities for Young People:
