Mars Rover Engineer has Landed on Virtual Job Shadow Site!

Kobie Boykins, a NASA Mechanical Engineer working on the Spirit Mars Rover, has been added as a virtual career mentor on the Virtual Job Shadow site! By going to www.jobshadow.org and selecting Virtual Job Shadow, students can learn about Mr.Boykins’s experiences working on this groundbreaking mission and what skills and education he needed to get his exciting job at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories!

Some Exciting Things Are Already Happening!

Tens of thousands of people around the country are ramping up for Job Shadow Day 2004. Here are just some of the things in the works across the nation - and beyond!

  • Poland, Maine: Poland Regional High School is planning to arrange 1,300 student shadows starting this February 2nd.
  • El Segundo, California: On February 2nd, Hawthorne Savings will open its doors to student shadows for the fourth year in a row.
  • Ramstein, Germany: The children of those serving America overseas will experience Job Shadow Day when Ramstein Airforce Base holds its own Job Shadow activities.
  • Tokyo, Japan: The Works Institute, a Non-Government Organization in Japan, is promoting Job Shadow throughout the country as a way of improving career development. During 2004, the Institute is working with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to organize a Job Shadow Day in 2005.
